The Nursing Sciences program at the School of Medical and Health Sciences at the Libyan International University marked International Nurses Day on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Held at the promising “Libya Hall,” the event coincided with the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. It was attended by LIMU President Professor Dr. Mohamed Saad Ambark, alongside university leadership, the nursing team, healthcare professionals, faculty, and students, highlighting the vital role of nursing in saving lives and enhancing healthcare quality.
The ceremony featured opening remarks and welcoming speeches delivered by:

The celebration included a visual presentation on the founding of the nursing program and a scientific session. Dr. Wafa Ramadan Ahmed, Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator, delivered a lecture titled “Overview of the Nursing Sciences Program,” outlining its vision, educational outcomes, and role in preparing qualified cadres according to professional academic standards.
Additionally, Dr. Khaldoun Al-Nawafleh, Associate Professor at Tabuk University, Saudi Arabia, joined via Zoom with a presentation on “What’s New in Nursing,” discussing modern advancements in practice and health education. Mr. Ramadan Al-Agouri, a collaborator and Director of Nursing at the National Heart Center Benghazi, presented on “Nursing as a Humanitarian Profession,” emphasizing the compassion and support essential to patient care.
LIMU students actively participated with distinguished scientific presentations:
Hannibal Majid Hamid (1st Batch) spoke on “Nursing’s Role in Infection Control.”
Al-Baraa Mohamed Al-Hammad (2nd Batch) discussed “Patient Safety and the Nurse’s Role.”
Batoul Wanis Al-Warfali (1st Batch) presented on “Nursing Professional Ethics.”
The event also featured student activities reflecting a spirit of dedication to this noble profession. The celebration received extensive media coverage, acknowledging the fundamental role of nursing within the health sector.
