Yesterday, Monday, July 20, 2026, the President of Libyan International University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Ambarek, arrived in the Italian capital, Rome, accompanied by the Director of Academic and International Cooperation, Dr. Muftah Toweilib, to attend the inaugural international event of the “Arab-Mediterranean Campus” (AMC) project.
Held under the theme: “Towards Building a Mediterranean Educational Area,” this gathering serves as a summit bringing together presidents of Italian universities alongside institutions from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The project represents a strategic academic initiative spearheaded by Italy’s prestigious Luiss University (Luiss Guido Carli) in partnership with 11 other Italian universities and an extensive network of MENA institutions, funded by the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR).
Joining LIMU’s President at the event were Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University in Egypt; the Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Mission in Italy; and Dr. Raffaele, Director of the Trans-Mediterranean Cooperation Initiative between Italian and Arab Universities. Participating virtually were the Advisor to the Italian Minister of Universities and Research, as well as the Director of Policy at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
