Under the Supervision of the European Union: Discussion of Four Master's Theses (Healthcare Management)

Under the supervision of the Vice President for Graduate Studies, Prof. Dr. El-Sanousi Taher, and the Director of the Healthcare Management Master’s Program, Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Ghariani, the discussions of Master’s theses in the field of Healthcare Management (the second batch) continued for the second consecutive day. This scientific milestone was established by the Libyan International University (LIMU) three years ago, launching in the fall of 2022/2023.

On Tuesday morning, June 24, 2026, the Ali Khalifa Al-Zaidi Hall hosted the defense proceedings of two outstanding theses, marked by a prominent academic presence.

The first defense was by researcher Sanad Younis Issa Al-Majbari, titled: Determinants of Medical Brain Drain in Libya: A Push–Pull Analysis.
Supervised by Prof. Dr. Essam Al-Denna.

The second defense was by researcher Ali Najib Asseid, titled: The Impact of Ownership of Health Facilities on the Quality of Health Care in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: A Comparative Literature and Survey-Based Study in Libya.
Supervised by Prof. Dr. Issa Al-Fadhli.

In this context, it is worth noting that the Master’s in Healthcare Management is organized under the supervision and monitoring of the European Union within the (SAHA) project. The very first thesis of this program was discussed on January 16, 2025. Its curricula are supervised and supported by the European Union, aiming to qualify scientific cadres who form an essential foundation in the healthcare field for managing hospitals and medical centers, as well as enriching the academic side to become future faculty members. Dr. Al-Ghariani explained that LIMU is the only private university in Libya selected for the (SAHA) project, which was established based on scientific surveys conducted by European experts on the healthcare situation in Libya. They concluded that the most critical issue facing the health sector is the absence of qualified healthcare management. With this continuous achievement, LIMU contributes fundamentally, as part of its strategy, to improving and elevating health sector services in Libya.
