The 95th Anniversary of Al-Fadhil Bou Omar’s Martyrdom Revived by LIMU In partnership with the Association of the Descendants of the Martyr Mujahid Al-Fadhil Bou Omar, LIMU commemorated the 95th anniversary of the martyrdom of the heroic freedom fighter, Al-Fadhil Bou Omar Al-Oujali.

The event was characterized by a unique combination: a large popular turnout and a distinguished academic and cultural presence of notable figures in Libyan culture. The celebration’s academic session, expertly moderated by Dr. Al-Ruwaie Qannao, began with him presenting a substantial scholarly paper. His research highlighted various aspects of the celebrated great mujahid’s personality. Attendees were also treated to an exceptional academic and cultural presentation by Dr. Ali Abdel-Sadiq Saleh Bou Harara, who, on February 6th, defended his master’s thesis titled: “Al-Fadhil Bou Omar Al-Oujali: A Historical Study of His Life and Jihad in Barqa, 1880-1930.”

The scholarly session, hosted in the “Promising Libya” Hall at Libyan International University (LIMU), also featured a significant remote intervention via the internet by Prof. Dr. Walid Shuaib from Tobruk University, and a notable contribution by Researcher Ahmed Gadallah from Omar Al-Mukhtar University. The commemoration was further honored by the presence of Mr. Jamal Al-Ghazali, the grandson of the Sheikh of Martyrs, Omar Al-Mukhtar. The day concluded with a ceremony to honor the individuals who contributed to the success of this academic celebration, attended by the descendants of the great martyr mujahid, Al-Fadhil Bou Omar Al-Oujali.
