To bolster the productive partnership between the Libyan International University (LIMU) and Al-Maktoum School of Higher Education, and following intensive discussions aimed at implementation, two executive agreements were signed yesterday, Sunday, January 4, 2026. Held at the National Unity Hall, the ceremony featured LIMU President Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Ambarek and Al-Maktoum School Director Dr. Abubakar Jaber Al-Majbari.
These deals build upon last year’s framework regarding the British Fellowship (FFP) and the launch of new diplomas.
Key Outcomes of the Agreements
Exclusive Representation: Under these executive terms, LIMU is now the sole representative for the Al-Maktoum Foundation and its allied British universities within the region.
Faculty Development: Both parties agreed to initiate a “Training of Trainers” (ToT) course. This program aims to enhance the capabilities of Libyan university faculty members while expanding the scope of available professional training.
Islamic Banking Diploma: The second agreement establishes a Higher Diploma in Islamic Banking. This qualification prepares graduates to pursue Master’s degrees in either Scotland or at LIMU.
The meeting finalized all technical details for these initiatives and addressed the upcoming Cybersecurity Master’s degree, which is set to launch soon at the LIMU School of Information Technology.
