LIMU Enhances Its Position in the Mediterranean Universities Union

As part of enhancing its strategic partnership with the Mediterranean Universities Union, Mr. President of LIMU, Dr. Mohamed Saad, accompanied by Dr. Muftah Al-Tawilb, Director of Academic Relations and International Cooperation, paid a working visit to the headquarters of the Mediterranean Universities Union in Rome on Tuesday, the 24th of September 2024.

Important Meetings

A series of meetings were held at the invitation of Mr. Marcello Sashelli, the Executive Director of the Union, in the presence of Dr. Maurizio Zandie, the Director in charge of Mediterranean projects. Discussions focused on ways to enhance academic cooperation with Italian and European universities, and to expand the network of cooperation in research areas, especially in issues of common interest in the Mediterranean region.

Areas of Cooperation

The proposed areas of cooperation include student and faculty exchanges, joint research in postgraduate programs, and capacity building and technical support. The President of the University also participated in a session to present the final report of a study conducted by the Union in partnership with a group of Mediterranean universities on women’s participation in higher education.

Achievements of the International University

It is worth noting that the International University obtained full membership in the Union in 2020, gaining the respect and appreciation of its members and the general public. It actively participated in several programs coordinated by the Union, especially within the Erasmus projects funded by the European Union, including the prominent “Health” (SAHA) project, which led to the establishment of master’s programs in healthcare administration.

Thanks to these initiatives, the first batch graduated this year, while we await the results of the second batch in the coming months.

These efforts reaffirm the International University’s commitment to enhancing academic cooperation and solidifying its position as an active member in the international academic community.
