School of Engineering and Technology: Transitioning from Paper Maps to Point Clouds

Embracing the rapid advancements and continuous evolution across all engineering
fields, the School of Engineering and Technology at the Libyan International
University is paving the way for future engineers and empowering promising youth with
a prosperous future. As part of their educational activities in the Surveying course,
fourth-semester students in the Architecture and Construction Engineering program
presented captivating demonstrations on July 2, 2024.

The presentations delved into the remarkable transformation of map production,
transitioning from traditional two-dimensional blueprints to the cutting-edge realm of
point clouds generated through 3D scanning technologies. The students showcased
various types of point clouds, their processing methods, and the numerous advantages
and engineering applications of these innovative techniques, emphasizing their superior
speed and accuracy.

Throughout their presentations, the students exhibited exceptional teamwork, effectively
distributing roles and collaborating seamlessly to deliver high-quality presentations.
Their enthusiasm and dedication to learning reflect the faculty’s commitment to fostering
a vibrant learning environment that nurtures creativity and innovation among its
students.
