Libyan International Medical University Signs Strategic Agreement with Campus Bio-medico University of Rome

The title “International” associated with this university since its inception was not merely a decorative label or a marketing slogan. It represented a vision, commitment, and a determined course of action that required tremendous effort to break through entrenched norms and adopt innovative, high-quality educational standards comparable to global institutions. Over time, these efforts bore fruit, producing exceptional graduates and earning recognition from top-ranking universities worldwide.

The next logical step was to deepen partnerships with these distinguished institutions, particularly those in European capitals, fostering dialogue, collaboration, and impactful joint projects. In this context, on Monday, January 13, 2025, a cooperation agreement was signed with Rome’s University Medical Complex. Present at the ceremony were LIMU President Dr. Mohamed Saad Mbarak, Director of International Cooperation Dr. Muftah Al-Toileb, and General Assembly Committee Member Dr. Faraj Bougrara. Representing the University Medical Complex were President Eugenio Guglielmelli and CEO Andrea Rossi, alongside:
• Laura Di Gara, Director of Education
• Antonella Benvenuto, Chief of Staff
• Alessandro Cavourio, Head of Research
• Sabrina Bozzoli, Head of Scholarships Office

The agreement opens vast opportunities for collaboration with Italian and African universities in what the WHO terms “One Health.” This holistic approach encompasses all health-related domains, including plant, environmental, animal, and food health. The partnership will focus on in-depth research in unified health, student exchanges for master’s and doctoral programs, faculty exchanges, institutional capacity building, project management, and the establishment of research centers.

This strategic three-year renewable initiative also includes a visit by the Libyan International Medical University delegation to six research centers within the University Medical Complex. These centers specialize in diverse fields and have demonstrated innovative methods and accumulated expertise, aligning with the LIMU’s practices. This creates a broad avenue for collaboration with the university’s research center, enabling mutual benefits from the advanced achievements in unified health
