“The health services are in a crisis, and all previous treatments have failed, so they must be overcome.”

In his speech at the start of the First National Health Forum, which was hosted by the Libyan International Medical University (LIMU) on its second day, the University President, Professor Dr. Mohamed Saad Embarek, greeted the participants and wished their forum success. He stated that the forum is honored by the presence of specialists, experts, and officials from all over Libya to discuss a topic that affects the lives of all Libyans and constitutes a hardship for the citizen, who longs for a service that meets people’s needs and requirements.

Dr. Embarek said:

“There is no doubt that health services are in a crisis, and all previous treatments have failed, so they must be overcome and jumped over, and not repeated, otherwise we will remain in a vicious cycle.”

The President of LIMU said:

“We need to think outside the box,”

explaining that this meeting will allow for that. He pointed out that many research and studies were conducted by academic and service institutions, and they must be relied upon so that the required positive change is based on evidence and the experiences of others.

Regarding the role of universities, Dr. Embarek said that their role is in human development and its resources, and in introducing specializations that concern and support health services, and work to improve and develop them, as well as producing research and studies and working with other service aspects, and there should be continuous communication with the components of the health sector.

The President of LIMU explained that the health services crisis has many aspects, including the financing of services, an aspect related to human resources, an aspect related to the use of modern technologies, and the aspect of governance and management of the sector, and other factors related to medical supply and its organization.

Dr. Embarek stressed that maximum benefit must be gained from such a specialized national forum and other meetings, conferences, and proposals that preceded it, in developing new, innovative studies that bring about the desired radical positive change.
The University President concluded by referring to the intellectual achievement of LIMU, “A Vision for a Promising Libya,” and what was mentioned in the Libya 2025 vision of new ideas that are suitable to be a foundation for a true national renaissance.
