The University Council held meeting number 270 in its fifteenth session for this year on the morning of yesterday, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the National Unity Hall.
The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Mubarak, opened the session with a speech summarizing the most significant events witnessed by the university recently. Foremost among these was the international conference organized by the university regarding the crisis of misalignment between educational outputs and the future labor market, held during December 14–23.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed praised the elevated level of the conference, the scientific figures who participated, and the important recommendations issued, emphasizing the necessity of publishing them and ensuring the Libyan International University is the first to adopt them.
He then spoke about another distinguished scientific event held at LIMU over three days, focusing on two main pillars: the Scientific and Career Day.
He praised the organization of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, its team, and all who contributed to the success of this event, which established a positive partnership between companies and universities to achieve outputs that match actual market needs. He saluted the sponsoring companies for their deep concept of sponsorship through intellectual contribution in formulating a new vision for the relationship between stakeholders (the private sector) and universities to become true partners in designing higher education strategies.
The president revealed new partnerships with American and European institutions, including the launch of a Cybersecurity Master’s in partnership with an Italian university. He also congratulated Council members on the American College of Surgeons accrediting the School of Medicine program at the university as the sole training center in Libya for the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course under the supervision of the American College of Surgeons.
He stressed the necessity of reviewing 2025’s events, evaluating performance and achievements, and implementing targeted plans with integrity and transparency while supporting positives and addressing shortcomings. He concluded by congratulating the attendees on Independence Day, inviting them to the Carnival organized by the Student Union at the National Library starting Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
The University Council witnessed in its fifteenth session deep discussions and an exchange of ideas to reach the best decisions regarding the following agenda items:
- Approval of the previous meeting
No. 269 held on December 2, 2025. - Proposal to establish the Governance and Compliance Council.
- Proposal regarding the title of the Journal.
- Proposal to add tasks to the University Educational Advisor.
- Presentation and discussion of the completion report for the 2025 strategic plan projects.
