In the presence of the university president, Dr. Mohammed Saad, program director and head of
the conference preparatory committee, Dr. Salma Boukhtwa, and other university leaders, along
with members of the Arab Scientific Association of Pharmacy Faculties and a distinguished
group of academics, researchers, and students, the 25th Conference of the Arab Scientific
Association of Pharmacy Faculties officially commenced. The event, held in the Ahmed
Al-Sharif Al-Sanousi Hall on the morning of Saturday, November 2, 2024, also marks the first
international conference for the faculty of Pharmacy at the Libyan International Medical
University .
The opening proceedings began with a reading from the Quran, recited by student Taha
Al-Araibi, followed by a welcome speech by student Sajida Al-Saiti, highlighting the significant
role played by the university’s students as key partners in this and other major events.
Dr. Mohammed Saad, President of the Libyan International Medical University , opened the
formal session, welcoming guests and emphasizing the importance of this scientific gathering
for the university. He expressed the university’s pride in hosting distinguished academics,
researchers, and professionals from respected institutions, whose presence and expertise
promise valuable scientific contributions. He extended his wishes for the success of the
conference and a pleasant stay for the guests.
Dr. Salma Boukhtwa, Director of the Doctor of Pharmacy program and head of the conference’s
preparatory committee, expressed her happiness at the collective gathering of Arab scientists
and scholars. She emphasized the significance of this conference in promoting unity and
collaboration among scholars, and praised the continuous partnership with the Arab Scientific
Association of Pharmacy Faculties .
Following Prof. Boukhtwa’s remarks, participants listened to an online speech from Dr. Lama
Youssef, Secretary-General of the Arab Scientific Association of Pharmacy Faculties and Dean
of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Damascus University. Dr. Youssef, who was unable to attend in
person, commended the Libyan International Medical University and its faculty of Pharmacy for
hosting the 25th edition of this prestigious conference. She emphasized the association’s
commitment to organizing the conference in Benghazi at the esteemed faculty of Pharmacy.
Two further speeches were delivered by Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, Professor of Pharmaceutical
Chemistry at Mansoura University in Egypt, and Dr. Nihad Al-Omari, Dean of the faculty of
Pharmacy at Al-Kitab University in Iraq. Both speakers expressed heartfelt sentiments about the
importance of collaboration and shared knowledge among the region’s scientific community.
They highlighted the pivotal role of scholars and researchers in advancing civilization and
emphasized the ongoing mission to develop and improve curricula, teaching methods, and to
keep pace with global scientific advancements.
