Third-year students of the faculty of applied medical sciences continue their training at the university\’s clinical skills lab, where the students received training on how to examine eyesight using the Snellen board, an eye examination chart. It is utilized by eye care professionals and ophthalmologists to measure visual acuity.
The scheme was named Snellen after the Dutch ophthalmologist Snellen Hermann who developed the scheme in 1862.
Vision scientists today use a variant of this scheme, which is a scheme designed by Billy Ian. It contains some letters of the Latin alphabet of various sizes and inquires you to read them from a certain distance.
